A Sad Day for Christian Lacroix

Christian Lacroix, known for his fantasy creations, is now facing an economic reality: BANKRUPT! The recession has caused many people throughout the world turmoil and stress. The fashion market is not exempt from this plague. Lacroix has changed the fashion industry since the 1980’s and now his design house has voluntarily filed for bankruptcy. As written wonderfully in NY Times “The loss of Christian Lacroix to Paris haute couture is immeasurable. Although the designer hopes to hold a small presentation during the July couture season, this was the last house established under the formal couture rules. Even a restructuring would most likely have severe implications for the 125-member staff.” What does the future hold for new and emerging designers? Do they, do we have a chance when fashion bulls such as Christian Lacroix must say no more? Belles and Bulls fans let us know your thoughts about the future of fashion.

A Question for Kanye West

Kanye West is indeed the Beau Brummel of our time. He is always dapper and usually has impeccable taste. He has several endorsements, the biggest two being of Nike and Louis Vuitton. I have a question for Mr. West, Can you collaborate with a new designer? Wouldn’t it be just as fresh to have something that no one else has tapped into to? Aren’t you a fashion leader and not follower? Think of our first lady. The name first suits her well because she is one of the first to flaunt new and emerging American designers! Mr West, many of your fellow musicians have said that Hip Hop is Dead. Your albums have proved that Americans and people throughout the world love Music, now please help to re-invigorate the fashion industry and add your flare to a new designer that once like you, needed a foot in the the door.
